We all want to look fresh-faced and younger, and makeup can help us get that. Keep in mind that your makeup style needs to evolve and adapt to your changing skin as you age.
You probably have an arsenal of products ready to help you feel fresh and fabulous, but something as simple as a makeup mistake might add years to your skin instead of removing them.
Whether it’s choosing the wrong shades, incorrect color combinations or simply wearing too much, watch out for these common makeup mistakes that could be adding years to your face.
Keep reading to find out if you’re committing any of these aging mistakes and what you can do to correct them.
You are skipping moisturizer
Think daily moisturizing doesn’t need to be part of your makeup routine? Think again. It’s essential to keeping your skin looking as plump, firm and fine-line-free as possible.
Using the right kind of moisturizer for your skin can help maintain its balance. When skin is too dry or too oily, many common skin problems like acne start to pop up. If your skin tends to be oily, you should look for lotions instead of creams, and try to find a moisturizer with exfoliant ingredient. If your skin tends to be dry, look for a cream – they tend to have a higher oil content.
You are wearing the wrong type of foundation
Foundation is an essential product, and as you age, you need to be aware that your foundation needs will change. Powders and matte formulas tend to settle into fine lines and accentuate them. Instead, use a lightweight liquid foundation that has just enough coverage and adds a healthy sheen.
For me, the best foundation is Clinique Even Better. I have been using it for the last two years, and this is the only foundation that does not cause any trauma to my skin. It covers every spot on my face. I even use it for concealer sometimes. The coverage of this product is fantastic and it lasts all day even when I’m sweating and working hard at the job. If you have oily skin, this might be the one for you. Clinique Even Better Foundation is amazing and it smells excellent!
If you haven’t tried this product, I have found some Clinique Even Better free samplesthat you can test to see if this foundation is suitable for your skin type. But I am sure that you will love this product after you test him. Here you find the link to the free samples. If you like Clinique products this is an excellent opportunity to try one of the best foundation which fits on any skin type.
You should stop wearing black eyeliner
It’s a harsh reality, but heavy black eyeliner ages you, making your eyes look smaller and drawing attention to skin that’s less firm than it once was.
Opt for a soft smoky chocolate tone in mascara and liner, which will give sultry definition to the eyes without overpowering the face.
You are applying blush to the wrong spot
Make sure to avoid applying blush much lower than your nostrils (or the bottom of your cheekbones). You also want to avoid using too much blush or picking the wrong shade.
Consider your blush shade as important as your foundation shade. The wrong color can mean trouble for your face. Make sure to go with a shade that complements your skin tone.
I am always testing beauty products, and for example, in the last month, I’ve tried some MAC Powder Blush Duo samples. This blush includes a soft coral blush paired with a medium taupe-brown. I like that the two shades work well together and the texture is soft without being too firm or too loose in the pan. Is also smooth, and blendable on the skin. I noticed fading after eight hours of wear.
It gives my skin such a natural light and vibrant color. I am pretty impressed with this product, and for sure I will buy it. If you are interested in testing Powder Blush Duo this is the link to the samples.
Wearing mascara on your lower lashes draws attention to dark circles and eye bags, so if you have either of those, it’s probably best to wear it on the top lashes only. Also, if you wear top only, you’re less likely to get smudges underneath.
